Fundraising

Exeter Dog Training Club does a small amount of fundraising every year at its Christmas Party and summer barbecue.  Each year we support a charity nominated by members at the AGM.  If you have a suggestion for a charity to support please speak to a member of the Committee.  To find out more click on the logos to open the charity websites.

2014/15
In 2014/15 we raised £? for the Dartmoor-based K9 Search Dogs who train bloodhounds specifically for tracking lost or missing dogs.  Many dog owners know the worry of a dog going missing.  K9 Search Dogs train bloodhounds to track missing pets.  Experienced search dog Forager and trainer Jaunty attended our 2014 Christmas Party.

2013/14
We raised £150 forDevon GSD Rescue, a small group of German Shepherd Dog enthusiasts and owners based in Devon  committed to the well-being and care of the breed, who rescue and re-home GSDs.  The charity's principle concern remains in Devon but as funds and facilities permit they will try and help needy GSDs in the nearby counties.  They are always looking for volunteers to help by fostering, fund raising, homing and just generally supporting them locally.

2011-13
Nowzad was established by Sergeant Pen Farthing whilst serving with the Royal Marines in the war torn Helmand Province of Afghanistan in 2006. The charity assists serving soldiers to rescue a dog they have adopted during their tour of duty in Afghanistan. Its work has expanded to providing care and treatment for abandoned stray dogs, cats and donkeys, and promoting animal welfare in Afghanstan and Iraq. Pen's inspring work is described in his books "One Dog at a Time" and "No Place Like Home".   We raised over £300 including £175 at our Walk for Nowzad organised by then Assistant Secretary Alicia Forsyth. Author and Nowzad Charity founder Pen Farthing and his dogs joined Exeter Dog Training Club members for a walk along Exmouth beach on 2nd January.  We were thrilled that Pen was able to attend our 2012 AGM to give a presentation about Nowzad's work.

2009-2011
We raised £311.50 for the Cinnamon Trust, a charity which helps elderly people to keep their pets, and looks after them in the event of their death. We were keen to support the Cinnamon Trust following the sudden death of long term member Pat Endacott, and the difficulty experienced in finding homes for her dogs.

2007/08
We donated £205 to "Pals with Paws" the Dogs for the Disabled Children's Project.
